Kineis

Kineis (France, founded 2018) is deploying a nanosatellite constellation for Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity, building on the heritage of the Argos system (which has long used satellites to track wildlife and oceanography instruments). Kineis plans a constellation of 25+ small satellites in low orbit to provide global coverage for connecting remote IoT devices, such as wildlife trackers, buoys, or asset monitors, via a satellite link. The service is designed to be power-efficient and globally available, complementing terrestrial IoT networks. By 2023, Kineis had launched pathfinder satellites and raised substantial funding, aiming to have the full constellation in orbit by mid-decade. The venture illustrates the growth of specialized satellite networks tailored to IoT, leveraging advances in smallsat technology to expand connectivity for sensors and devices worldwide.
