About
Founded in 2023 by engineers Nick Destrycker and Wouter Benoot, EDGX (based in Belgium) designs high-performance onboard computers for satellites. Its flagship product, the Sterna edge computing unit (built with NVIDIA technology), allows satellites to run advanced data analytics and artificial intelligence algorithms directly in orbit. This on-board processing capability reduces the need for downlink and accelerates decision-making for Earth observation and telecommunications missions. EDGX’s SpaceFeather software stack supports autonomous, resilient satellite operations. In 2025 the company raised €2.3M (with funding from imec and Belgian funds) and secured a €1.1M commercial contract. With about 15 technical staff, EDGX is planning a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch demo of its AI computer in 2026.
