About
Maxar Technologies (USA/Canada) is a leading space technology firm formed from the merger of satellite manufacturer SSL and Earth imagery provider DigitalGlobe. Maxar builds large communications and observation satellites for commercial and government customers and operates the WorldView/GeoEye constellation of high-resolution Earth imaging satellites (which provide some of the world’s sharpest satellite photos, widely used by intelligence and mapping services). Maxar’s imagery has been prominent in applications like Google Maps and in monitoring global events. The company is also developing the Power and Propulsion Element for NASA’s Lunar Gateway and has a portfolio of robotics (through its acquisition of MDA’s robotics division) used on the Space Station and Mars rovers. As a mid-large company, Maxar represents the integration of traditional satellite manufacturing with downstream data services in Earth observation.
