About
Founded in 2022 by CEO Jakub Stojek and CTO Robert Ihnatisin, Orbital Matter UG (incorporated in Germany, incubated in Poland) is pioneering in-space additive manufacturing. Its flagship project is the Replicator nanosatellite, which carries a universal 3D printer to fabricate large-scale structures (antennas, trusses, solar arrays) directly in orbit. This approach can reduce launch mass by up to 70% and enable construction of components up to 20x larger than conventional launch constraints. Orbital Matter has raised seed funding (>€1M) and is supported by ESA and industry partners (Thales Alenia Space). The company plans an orbital demonstration mission in 2025 and aims to offer modular 3D printing units for commercial satellites by 2026. The small team draws on expertise in terrestrial manufacturing and aims to serve satellite integrators looking to build large structures in space.
