About
Outpost Technologies, founded in 2021 in California, is building reusable satellite platforms and re-entry technologies to enable precision Earth return of orbital payloads. The startup’s two-stage re-entry system uses deployable (inflatable) heat shields and autonomous paraglider gliders to safely bring satellites or cargo back through the atmosphere for gentle, targeted landings. By making satellites capable of return and reuse, Outpost aims to eliminate single-use spacecraft, reduce space debris, and provide on-demand delivery of materials from space. The company’s products (such as its Ferry vehicles) will allow research experiments, satellite hardware, and other cargo to be routinely brought back from orbit, opening new possibilities for in-space R&D and logistics.
